MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA
April -July
- Regular sessions with Zen and Hakomi teacher Aladdin Jones.
- Short-term training at Kihon Aikido.
- Attended Sydney-based psychologist and Hakomi teacher Karen Baikie's three day workshop.
- Ongoing chiropractic treatment for misaligned spine.
KYOTO, JAPAN
January 18th
- Two months of intensive tabla instruction from Australian tabla player Glen Kniebeiss.
2015
BANGKOK, THAILAND
December
- Recuperating from knee injury sustained in Bangladesh.
- Several visits to chiropractors.
BANGLADESH
November 23rd
- Making my way down south to St. Martin's Island via Cox's Bazar, then up north to Sylhet.
- Off to Bangladesh to shadow Nose2Nose in theater workshops with several international and local schools in Dhaka and Chittagong.
SOUTH KOREA
October 19- November 6th
- Flew to Jeju Island, South Korea. Spent time in solidarity with Gangjeong Villagers opposing naval base construction.
JAPAN
October 1-18th
- Back north to Sapporo. Working with Waya Guest House for a week conducting theater workshops, and helping out in the guest house. Family visiting for the second week while I continue preparations for leg two of the journey, and finalizing Watson reportage.
- Down in Tokyo for the month taking intensive classes at the World Aikido Headquarters, Hombu Dojo.
- Onward up north to the island of Hokkaido. Basing myself in Sapporo for the week, Japan's equivalent of Portland, Oregon. Smashing time here catching up with a long time theater teacher from Nose2Nose. Breathtaking connection to the land up in Hokkaido, ingeniously exemplified by Haruo Kikuchi.
- Back to Hiroshima for a week, taking aikido classes at the Prefectural Gymnasium, learning Hiragana, Katakana, and aikido terms.
- Westbound. Arrived in Yamaguchi, staying with Malaysian students at the Yamaguchi Engineering University
- Stayed with a host family in the Hiroshima suburbs. The darling Mika Fuchimoto, Tomoya and kids. Attended an aikido class at the Prefectural Budo.
- Arrived in Hiroshima for the 70th Anniversary of the Atomic Bomb destruction of Hiroshima. Listened to Keiko Ogura, A-bomb survivor's testimony.
- Been in Kyoto for a week, sat in on a kendo class at the central budo.
- Attended the Global Network Conference on Nuclear Power and Missile Defense. In solidarity with Ukawa Village in protest of Kyogamisaki US X-Band Radar Base.
